More About Jack

Jack’s narrative speaks to the power of education to transform lives. He is the second youngest of five boys, born to a mother who began having children in 1962 when she was just fifteen years old.

He was the first in his extended family, let alone his immediate family, to graduate high school. He is a twice-honorably discharged Army Infantry and Desert Storm veteran.

He is a first-generation college graduate, graduating cum laude in 2010 at the age of 42 at the height of the financial crisis and ensuing recession. His family moved to Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and he worked his way through graduate school as a high school math teacher, completing his master’s degree in economics in 2013, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies in 2018. He currently works as an adjunct professor of economics and teaches college math at a local high school.

He has been married for 15 years and they have one son, Jackson.
